I setup jetpack with 2factor authentication and also setup the app on my phone. I’m testing how it publishes. This is kinda cool but I don’t think I’d use this to write a big post. Not bad for a status update though.
Jut converted the site to HTML5. It was more work than I remembered but I’ve been doing other kinds of dev work so I ended up forgetting some of the tricks to adding/removing elements with the way this theme was setup. Still, only about half an hour of work so not bad.
Planning on doing some new blog posts and writing a bit about my new hobby, harmonica, along with experiences as a youth pastor etc.
I had some free time today so I decided to finally get to that project where I convert my personal blog over to the same theme I’m using on my Designs By site. When Tapestry came out (the theme y blog was built around) I thought it was amazing, and Streamline 2.0 is the first theme to come along that looks better as far as I’m concerned.
From a visual perspective I changed very little, but I did import all of those new post format features I had setup last fall. So this has all teh amazing looks of Streamline 2.0 with the Tumblog functionality I want. I’ll probably have some more work to do, but till then, what do you think?
I just bought Give Us Rest or (A Requiem Mass in C [The Happiest of All Keys]) [+digital booklet] at Amazon. They are almost always cheaper than iTunes and I can use the music on whatever device I want easily. I’m only a couple songs in, but I’m enjoying it. The first song opens almost exactly like “It is Well” by Kutless. So much so I thought I played the wrong album. In any case, less than $12 for 34 songs from a band I love … no brainer
Just got an email letting me know my credentials were renewed. Every year I have to fill out a form and agree to the fundamental beliefs of the Assemblies of God and make sure I have paid the district 75% of my tithe. It is kind of interesting since I know I don’t “need” a license to do ministry, I can even get approved to do weddings without a license. I go through this because in my mind it is the right thing to do. In any case, I’m happy that my license was renewed even if I might be a tiny bit disenchanted with the process.
I’m trying to get a new Middle School group started on Thursday nights. I’ve got one family on board with 4 kids and their friends, but when they can’t make it, like tonight, then no one shows up. I was pretty disappointed when I heard they weren’t coming, but I showed up anyways. Sure enough, no one. Then 3 neighborhood kids, right in the age group I’m reaching out to, walked up to start playing basketball on our outdoor court. My wife was leaving with the kids, but I had driven separately, so I went to hand out and play a little ball with them. I know, not like ti was this huge group, but I gotta say, I’m very happy I had to opportunity to meet them since they literally live a few houses down the road. God is good.
Last night we concluded the series “The Truth About Sex.” This was a video series from BlueFish.tv led by Doug Fields. I don’t use the leaders manual so much. Instead I used an illustration with glow sticks, asking the students to keep them un-broken. Most of the students didn’t make it through the video. Then I gave them brand new ones to illustrate God giving us new life instead of repairing our broken life. Cool part, a young woman was there that hasn’t been to church in a couple of years. She responded during my “altar call.” More later.
Last week was camp; it was a lot of fun. I got very little sleep, and did lots of stuff. Yesterday was my daughter’s 8th b-day. We went to the amusement park. It was lots of fun. We played very hard on very little sleep. Ever notice how the more fun you have the more you want to stay in bed for a long time? Seems unfair if you think about it.
