wednesday night follow up Archives

Last night we concluded the series “The Truth About Sex.” This was a video series from BlueFish.tv led by Doug Fields. I don’t use the leaders manual so much. Instead I used an illustration with glow sticks, asking the students to keep them un-broken. Most of the students didn’t make it through the video. Then I gave them brand new ones to illustrate God giving us new life instead of repairing our broken life. Cool part, a young woman was there that hasn’t been to church in a couple of years. She responded during my “altar call.” More later.

I was really blessed a while back to work with a pretty cool guy on a few projects. First, his name is "Bob," and if you know me then you know I love that name. I don't know why, I just think it is frigintastic. I tried to name all of your kids that. I think I understand my wife vetoing the girls names, but still ... we have two boys, so you would think I could have picked at least one of those names. I also tried naming the dog Bob. Boys have peanuts and girls have versace

I think that's how it goes? Tonight we talked about the differences between guys and gals. Then we did a big dance number. Wait, no, that was the weird dream I had. We did talk about the differences though. I showed a great clip from the Skit Guys that illustrated that God made us and wants to remake us into what He intended. Then I talked a bit about how we were all created in His image. Actually it was kind cool because I slipped out the side door while the lights were out and waited by the back door which is right by the platform. Talking bout S.E.X.

Well we finally got to start the series on Sex. We were supposed to start 2 weeks ago but weather issues made me delay. I've talked to a lot of Youth Pastors about this and we are pretty much all on the same page. Someone needs to bring this up with students. Most of them aren't getting this information from their parents or other trusted and safe adult. They are getting all kinds of information about sex from each other and the media. Picking up cars with boys

Tonight was a cold and rainy night. So far I have referenced a movie I never watched and the worst noir opening ever. I'm off to a great start.Anyways, it really was cold and rainy so attendance was down a little. Not much though, which really surprises me based on the fact that I am switching to a much more bible study type presentation. We have spent the past three weeks on Matthew 5. During this I start by reading the passage we are covering and then explaining that section within the culture and how it relates to us. Then I preach on a specific point.
