Balance

Many things in life require a great deal of balance. Last week I found that my sense of balance is not what it used to be, specifically balance on a snowboard. There are other aspects to balance that I am getting better at but still need a lot of practice.In youth we are still growing slowly and the people that are coming in are the kids that are not churched in the least. I love Chan

So in the College and Careers class I lead we are going through Crazy Love with the DVD. Today we covered the second chapter and it went pretty good. I am trying really hard to get one of the guys to come out of his shell. It is really difficult because he is like a kung fu master of avoiding answering anything. OK like a drunken kung fu master making it look like pure accident and uncoordinated happenstance as he dumbly deflects each question without revealing anything.Speaking of crazy kung fu masters I love Jackie Chan. Mile Stones

Hey I missed some important milestones. I just noticed that my Lent post just before this was my 150th post which is pretty cool. Also, I think this might be my 100th post. Lent

The more I get into theology the more I appreciate Catholic theology. It is important to understand the history of our beliefs, but more than that I feel that there is a lot more right there than wrong. I think that we misunderstand the importance of the Saints in general, but more than that I think we really ignore Mary the mother of Christ. I think that this is something that Protestants need to think about more.Lent is something else that I think we should give more credence to. Heroes update

OK, I have been a big fan of Heroes for quite some time. I am pretty unhappy the way they took Hiro's powers and totally nerfed Peter. Quite frankly I'm not a fan of Peter to begin with but he had some wicked awesome powers. Once they nerfed him he quickly became one of my least favorite characters.Silar, on the other hand, has quickly become one of the most interesting characters. I love the line from a couple weeks ago, "I let you live kid, and that's kind of a big thing for me." Things I learned from 80s cartoons: There is more than meets the eye

I know I've already talked about the Transformers before, but I really loved that show. I was so afraid of the movie because I worried it would ruin my memories. Sure it departed from the story quite a bit but you had to expect that. The essence of what Transformers is didn't change with the movie though. More than that, they worked in several references to the original cartoon. One scene has Sam Witwicky saying to the girl he likes, "With you there is more than meets the eye." I am Superman

Well, I was for about .5 seconds. I went snowboarding for the first time today and despite having learned how to skate, surf, and windsurf in my youth it has been too long since I used those skills so balance was my enemy today as much as gravity.Anyways, I was pretty tired at the end of training session and couldn't even stand-up on the board much less try what I was being taught, but I got out after lunch and tried some more with more success. Glutton for Punishment

I knew this day would come. I spent way to long getting my BA so when I was done I didn't want to think about education anymore. I made a mistake this week. It has been 4 years since I finished my undergrad degree so I guess the disdain I have for learning has worn off. I was reading Group magazine and saw an ad for Seminary. That is all it took.Next thing I know I'm looking at the website and then checked out about a dozen other seminary programs.
