I had portions of this confused with Hemingway, who probably should have paid more attention to the message herein. For some reason I also though this had something to do with Poe. More importantly I had never read this in it’s entirety, only the first few lines from this excerpt. You should follow the link and read the opening paragraph. I, for one, find this to be a very good piece, worthy of much more than the oft poorly quoted and ill remembered history I have with it.
