Got some new shoes yesterday. The Vibram 5 Finger KSO. If yo don’t know about them, they have a more glove like construction. Each toe has it’s own little home, and the sole is pretty thin and conformed to be more like bare feet. All in all it doesn’t feel like I have shoes on, they are actually less noticeable than socks, well maybe not the really low profile socks. In any case, I’m hoping they help ease foot discomfort at camp. Click through for details.

Finally, we have been looking for a long time, trying to find the vehicle that gives us everything we want for the price we want to pay. Looks like we found it after months. Have to drive 2 hours then finish negotiations, then another 2 hours back. I wish it were closer, but the local places didn’t seem interested in helping us get a new to us car. I’ll be posting pics once we own it, well own most of it, the bank will have the title for a while.

Had one of those weird waking dreams just as I fell asleep last night. Usually it takes a while before I hit dream level sleep, but last night I think my eyes were still open as I saw two guys walking through the wall I was facing then one pointed a gun or something at me. I yelled “Holy Frak!!” Not in my dream I actually yelled it. Freaked out my wife big time.

So it turns out my dreams must have a network censor or something.

I spent the past … well I think almost a week getting things prepped, waiting for installation, and finishing the hookup of everything, but my parents’ new counter tops are in and the plumbing is hooked up. I don’t have pictures of the island, since all my tools and supplies were stacked up there, and the cabinets need to be finished, but here is a sneak peak at what I’ve been up to.

We have been without counters or a sink since Sunday after church. The counters were supposed to be installed on Monday, but there was a pretty big mix-up, so they didn’t get installed till Tuesday, then we had to wait 24 hours to install the plumbing. I have completed most of it, but the drains don’t match with the old sink, so I’m off to the store, hopefully for the last time on this project, to get supplies to get’er done.

I really hate remodeling.

The installers didn’t come at the earliest part of their time span, which is fine because we had some extra things to get prepped like getting a new dishwasher in place. All the extra work to get things prepped for after the installation was done, but the counter top hadn’t arrived. The end of the “we’ll be there” window slipped away, so we called. Bad news, counter top wasn’t coming. The installers said there was a price increase due to a few things being larger than the original estimate (That’s What She Said) and the approval for the increase hadn’t been sent in. Of course no one called about this, so how could anything have been approved?

So now there is no sink, no counter, no dishwasher, well it’s there but without the plumbing it isn’t very useful. I’ll have to spend all day tomorrow on this again, and I’m frustrated, but my dad is down right angry. I have to say, I’ve been on the receiving end of that, so I’m pretty happy that I could walk away when he was talking to the people on the phone.

Every have a remodeling disaster like this? What happened?

Saturday it rained like mad, then Sunday was beautiful, Monday was too. Today has been cloudy, drizzly, blah. These are “Eeyore Kinda Days.” I don’t really want to get out of bed or get anything done. Still, lot’s to do so I better just get it done.

So I’m watching an ad, rare event for me, where a woman is waiting for an interview. The voice over says something about “having the perfect outfit for the interview” then goes on to explain how Kohl’s has a great selection, great prices, and a no hassle return policy. My take away is that if I don’t get the job I can return the outfit since that was clearly the problem.

Maybe I’m over thinking things.
