God Bless Us as We Bless Others

Presents

Last week I shared about a family I have come to know that is in need. I put a donation button on my site and asked for help. I didn't know if anyone would give but I've been blessed to see how people responded. That night my heart was heavy. I couldn't sleep. I kept thinking about this family, and then all the other families in need. I know we made a difference for this family. But my heart was crushed at all of the families out there who need more from those who can help. I kept getting … [Read more...]

God Bless Us Everyone

God Bless Us Every One

I imagine most people have watched some form of a Christmas Carol in their life. My favorite version is the Muppet's Christmas Carol. It is an annual holiday tradition. We had watched the old VHS tape till it started getting off track and fuzzy so a couple years ago we picked up the movie on DVD. On the off chance that you have never heard of the Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, here is a short synopsis. *****Spoiler Alert***** Not sure I'm actually required to do that, over 100 … [Read more...]

Come Holy Spirit, but please on my schedule

He's waiting for you to come

I love listening to the stories of how God use to work in church. I might chalk it up to nostalgia or some other such thing, but I can remember God moving in services in a powerful way when I was a teen. I remember going to convention and God taking over the service, or Youth camp and being in the altars all night long. I remember a few chapel services in college where God moved and classes were cancelled for the rest of the day. These experiences don't seem to happen like that any more. … [Read more...]

Jimmy Needham was the concert on Friday Night at ATF. All the students liked this concert better than the other two. When he covered Stand By Me I have to say, well I immediately went and bought all his CDs.

Rebuilding old junk

Beat up old mustang waiting to be redeamed

This past weekend was Acquire the Fire, and it was one of the best I've been to. I'm working on getting some of our video and photos together, the biggest problem is that one of the students can't be in anything we put online, so I have to do some editing before I can add any of the stuff the student appears in. I can, however, add my personal notes on the event. Friday night Ron Luce spoke. This is the first time I've heard him speak. He related our relationship to God to an experience he … [Read more...]

My Selfish Prayer

kid praying

Yesterday was Star Wars day, today is the national day of prayer, I imaging that it is only a matter of time before the tow days coincide, which will be really cool. Anyways, I want to talk about prayer for a bit. My kids learned to pray pretty early. They fight over who gets to pray over the meal, so we have a schedule and it is very important to keep teh schedule. Even the 2 year old has his turn. His prayer is something like "Tay u Jus, Fud, MAN!!!!" If you don't speak 2 year old this … [Read more...]

Happy Star Wars Day

SWSETOF96

Today is May 4th, hence "May the fourth be with you" aka "Star Wars Day." Now I wouldn't be a geek without bringing some attention to this, but I want to draw a clear distinction here. I have watched all the Star Wars movies, I enjoyed them, even the ones with Jar Jar Binks. I have memorized many lines, but I'm not super sold that it is the all to end all of SciFi. I have read a few dozen of the books, I'm an avid reader so I was bound to read several. Most are short enough I can knock out a … [Read more...]

I Owe You an Apology: Creation of Live V. Spontaneous Generation

spontaneous generation of mice

In the last part of the "I Owe You an Apology" series, The Creator Revealed, I followed a series of logical arguments to demonstrate that the Creator must be One and must have several characteristics ascribed to the God of the Bible. Before that I allowed Science and Logic to show that the Universe must have been created by a specific type of being. Today I want to focus on the Origin of Life. Of course this whole discussion is a bit of a moot point given the evidence for a Creator, but it … [Read more...]

In the time from the Crucifixion to the day of Pentecost there were a great many changes in the followers of Christ. In this sermon I read from 1 Corinthians 15 and follow 3 key changes in life that brought the early church out of fear and into a bold proclamation of the Gospel, including changes in Paul’s life after Christ ascended. Find out why you must know Christ, be given Grace, and receive the Holy Spirit for this change to be worked in your life.

Some months, well actually years, ago we began a quest for a new to us vehicle. We had certain requirements of this vehicle. It must have room for the family, which limited us to vans, minivans, and certain SUVs with a third row. It also much have better than 25mpg fuel economy, which basically narrowed it down to just tow vehicles. The Mazda 5 and the Toyota Highlander Hybrid. We looked into …
