Life is Funny when you have kids

I don’t often participate in the “life is funny” carnival, (read I have never but really should), but I have to share this little story and while it was happening I kept thinking of the “life is funny” carnival.
Most kids like to play house or school. Admittedly my kids often play this game. They tend to entertain themselves and listening in usually provides more than a few chuckles. They argue about who the mom is and who is going to marry whom. My oldest is giving the others homework all the time. They also find ways of making the game more interesting for the oldest boy who is always looking for ways to fight the bad guy. When my kids play house someone will die because they are the bad guy.
Of course this all seems pretty normal compared to the trip home from school today. I don’t know where this came from but the whole way home the kids were playing “infomercial.” I got to hear my oldest daughter talking about how if you call right now you will get a free gift and if you log onto www.flowerpower.com/flowerpet you can play a free game. Remember “children don’t get online without your parent’s permission.”
This whole time my oldest son was shadowing her with his own version. I’m not totally sure what either of them were selling, but she kept talking about flowers and pets while he kept talking about firebombs.
The worst of it is that my daughter had the inflection down perfect as she was going through the script. I almost had to pull over from laughing.

Oddly we never watch infomercials. As much as possible we don’t really let our kids watch live TV outside of Disney in the AM, which doesn’t do commercials.

So funny! Those infomercials can sneak up on you at any time. They could have been watching cartoons, and an infomercial came up between their two favorites. Those informercials are sneaky.

I think that is the issue. Occasionally they will watch cartoons in the evening when there are commercials, gonna have to watch that.

Kids are little sponges (which is great and scary all at the same time).

Lots of stuff my kids do would have made a great video. Guess I need to just start recording them all the time and get a TV show then live a life of paid vacations only to complain about Mrs_theGeek on live TV and destroy our marriage … hmm might be a bad idea.
