Now, see, I look at Trust Fund and think of the scripture that says (and I'm paraphrasing): "Don't stockpile your valuables here on earth. They're not safe here. Instead, stockpile your valuables in Heaven, where God takes care of them until you get there." Cute post, Nick!

That was the best post of the carnival that I've read so far!!! Awesome! Oh, yes… it's also the first post, but don't let that detract from what I said!

First, Thank you. Second, your welcome.

Hmmm, that is one way to look at it. It's even one of the things I referred to. Of course there are other ways to look at it, like taking care of your children's future.

If you don't read any other posts, then it will be the best post you read of the carnival.

Now I'm tempted not to read any of the others just so you'll stay #1!

Do you know where I could get one of those trust funds? Nice post. :-)

Something about the combination of TRUST and FUND just got me laughing, lol. That is a good idea though. Makes me wonder how positive words could mean negative to a lot of people.

That was a definite and unexpected turn. I like it!

Trust is a funny thing. To prove just how little you can trust me, go see what rude things I said about you at FOTTSP today. :-) <-SB><

So far as I understand it, not having one after all, the easiest way to get one is to get real close with someone that has lots of money and no family or doesn't like their family. When they die you might get lucky and they will will you a trust fund.

I wonder just how many positive things end up being turned negative?

Yep, I'm all about going against the flow.

My dad used to talk about "trust fund kids" – always a negative connotation, as in "they've never done a day's work in their life" but I always detected some envy in his heart. Personally, I never saw it do much for any of those kids, and those trust funds reared their ugly heads in college. I think the message is to have one, but don't tell the kids.

I like this take Nick. You thought outside the box on trust and that is way cool!

Brilliant! (By the way, ties as beltwear are tres chic, Nick. You're a trendsetter and didn't realize it). And yes, I'm totally jealous of people with trust funds…but then you feel the pressure of living up to them to prove you're a good person in spite of it, or you become a wastrel, and who wants to deal with all that?

  23. Nick the Geek

    Oct 20th, 2009

Yep, that would be a great plan. Technically our will establishes a trust fund for our kids if both of us die, but it is to provide money to the people that end up rising them to help offset the cost of raising them and possibly even a bt of money for education. They won't have to worry about not having to work.

You know me, I don't think outside the box live outside the box.

  25. Nick the Geek

    Oct 20th, 2009

Ur just jealous that I thought of it and you didn't

  26. Nick the Geek

    Oct 20th, 2009

Technically if my wife and I both die the kids will have a trust fund but I won't worry about them having to deal with not working a day in their lives.

    Oct 20th, 2009

    thanks

  28. Nick the Geek

    Oct 20th, 2009

yeah but not I wouldn't do it because it is chic, ok I might but only if a rule required me to wear a tie.

    Oct 20th, 2009

You technically aren't stockpiling treasures for yourself and most of the time you have rules about how and when you can access the fund no?

Ahhh, the letter of the law rather than the intent. You make a brilliant or terrible supreme court justice. Why reply on topic to an "off topic" post

Well… didn't you have to read yours? Haha. Good job, Nick, you got Peter's approval!

I would be both brilliant and terrible, making the laws into what I feel like on any given day … sort of like any Justice currently on the bench.

I do wish I had a trust fund, but then again I know better than to trust in funds. Which translates in my mind, "In God We Trust, not the money this is printed on." Works for me!

Reminds me of a DC Talk song "Socially Acceptable" At one point they say "In God we trust is an American Pun" Of course it really isn't a pun but a more accurate description probably wouldn't fit musically so I'm ok with it. The point is too many people trust in the god we call money. Kinda sad when ur god dies.
